Who Created Bitcoin?

“Who created Bitcoin?” is one of the most popular questions on the internet related to the largest cryptocurrency in the world. There is bad and good news. The good news is that we know who created Bitcoin. The bad news is, we don’t know who created Bitcoin.

This is getting confusing.

But let us explain.

We know Bitcoin was created in 2008 and released in 2009 by an anonymous (pseudonymous) person (or group of people) called Satoshi Nakamoto. The Bitcoin white paper was released in 2008 and it proposes a solution to the double-spending problem present in peer-to-peer networks.

This was the first time this issue was solved.

Nevertheless, despite knowing that Satoshi Nakamoto created Bitcoin, we do not know who Satoshi Nakamoto is.

There are some theories, however, on who created Bitcoin. That is, who the person behind the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto is. In this guide, we will share with you information about possible Bitcoin creators, what Bitcoin is and who created Bitcoin

What is Bitcoin?

Bitcoin is the largest cryptocurrency in the world. Since 2009 when it was released to the market, it has experienced a challenging path in order to reach the level of knowledge it currently has.

In recent months, the virtual currency was able to surpass $60,000 for the first time and experts consider the price of the digital asset could even reach $100,000. In the future, the price of the virtual currency could reach massive levels. However, this remains to be seen.

Bitcoin is a decentralized, permissionless and trustless digital asset. Users can send, receive or store BTC in a fast and easy way. Moreover, there is no centralized authority controlling or deciding who could send and receive BTC.

Moreover, if you hold the private keys of your BTC, then there is no authority or centralized party that could control your funds. You are the real owner of your money and become your own bank.

Possible Bitcoin Creators

There are different individuals that have been associated to Satoshi Nakamoto in the past. However, there is no clear confirmation on whether these are the individuals behind the most popular cryptocurrency in the world.

There is some information that he has shared in the past, for example, that he was 37 years old in 2012 and that he lived in Japan. However, none of his works were published in Japanese or registered in that country. Furthermore, he showed a proficiency level of English.

Hal Finney

This is perhaps one of the most recognized persons in the Bitcoin space. He was a cryptographic expert that used the Bitcoin software when it was recently starting. He worked alongside Satoshi Nakamoto and other early developers.

According to some reports, Hal Finney’s writing seemed to be the closest to Satoshi’s writing. Moreover, speculation around Finney and Satoshi Nakamoto exploded when it was discovered that a person named Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto lived close to Finney’s house.

Nick Szabo

This is another possibility. Nick Szabo is a cryptocurrency enthusiast that worked on a project called “bit gold.” This project was released before Bitcoin and could be considered a precursor of the largest digital asset.

Despite being considered by many the creator of Bitcoin, he has many times denied that. Thus, the relationship between Nick Szabo and Bitcoin might not be the one we are all thinking about.

Other People Involved in Bitcoin

There are other individuals that could also be associated with Bitcoin. For example, Neal King, Vladimir Oksman and Charles Bry could be the people behind Satoshi Nakamoto. These individuals were behind a patent application that talked about a “computationally impractical to reverse”, a phrase that we mentioned before is present on the Bitcoin white paper.

In addition to it, the Bitcoin.org domain was registered just three days after the filing of the patent. However, these individuals have denied being Satoshi Nakamoto.

Other theory includes Hal Finney, Nick Szabo and Adam Back being considered the creators of Bitcoin. Nevertheless, they have all claimed that they are not Satoshi Nakamoto. Until now, there is no clear information about who Satoshi Nakamoto is and we might never know. Until now, Satoshi Nakamoto has never moved any of his BTC.
