OneBalance, a firm that specialises in the development of cross-chain infrastructure, has successfully garnered a total investment of $20 million during its latest Series A financing round. The funding comes after an additional $5 million in seed funding in June 2024. Now, the firm’s total funding since inception stands at an impressive $25 million.
Details of the Series A Financing Round
The Series A financing round pulled in a diverse range of blockchain-focused investors. The round was led by the Cyber Fund and Blockchain Capital. Other investors included but were not limited to Mirana Ventures and L2IV.
The involvement of Blockchain Capital in the fundraising saw its general partner, Spencer Bogart, being invited to join OneBalance’s board of directors. The company confirmed this in a statement given to The Block. The addition of such a knowledgeable figure in the blockchain industry would undoubtedly aid OneBalance’s growth trajectory.
The Company’s Vision
OneBalance aims to revolutionize the usability of web3 products by deploying its innovative cross-chain integration weaponry known as Toolkit. This product is specifically developed for developers, helping them create frictionless cross-chain transactions. For example, users may transfer assets or earn yield via Toolkit without having to worry about monitoring bridges or gas fees.
The recent funding of $20 million is set to fuel the firm’s plans to increase its headcount. Along with this, the financial backing will also expand the utility and functionality of the OneBalance Toolkit product.
A Statement from the CEO
Upon the closure of the financing, OneBalance CEO and co-founder, Stephane Gosselin expressed his excitement and vision for the firm. Gosselin strongly believes in the potential of stablecoins to replace conventional bank accounts while attracting millions of users to blockchain. However, he acknowledges the current user experience is more of a tangled web than a straightforward process.
OneBalance is striving to revolutionize this aspect by providing simple one-click solutions with superior speed, efficiency, and reasonable cost for any chain, action, and token. Gosselin mentioned that the company has reimagined blockchain development from the node up to emphasize value creation for users.
The Leadership Team
OneBalance’s leadership panel boasts a series of industry leaders from the blockchain and cryptocurrency domain. CEO Stephane Gosselin is also the co-founder of Flashbots. This parallel venture of Gosselin is deeply vested in mitigating the negative impacts of maximum extractable value (MEV) on blockchain technology.
OneBalance’s COO is Daniel Worsley, who brings his operational expertise from his tenure as the operations lead at Flashbots. Adding to the leadership strength is Ankit Chiplunkar. Prior to serving as OneBalance’s CTO, Chiplunkar has left his mark as a smart contract engineer at Coinbase.
Past Investments
Prior to the recent Series A round, OneBalance had previously managed to secure $5 million as seed funding in June 2024. Renowned names like Consensys, Wintermute, and Cobie were part of this initial funding round that helped propel the company’s early growth.
Overall, OneBalance’s determined vision, combined with the financial backing and strategic guidance from its board of directors, contribute to the firm’s readiness to take on the challenges and seize opportunities in the rapidly evolving blockchain industry.
