The price of the Plasma token (XPL) has dived into a bearish market following a recent airdrop, in spite of an increase in transactions and a surge in decentralized finance assets.
Despite the steep decline in token price, network activity for Plasma continues to surge, with robust DeFi deposits and thriving new partnerships. Nevertheless, post-airdrop sell-offs underline how short-term profit-making and liquidity dynamics can overshadow a project’s strong performance. This dynamic is testing whether the token’s underlying strengths can restore investor confidence and set off a recovery.
Plasma Price Declines Amid Robust Ecosystem Growth
The price per XPL token fell beneath a critical support level of $1, bottoming out at $0.8720. This constitutes nearly a 50% decrease from its peak price within the same month.
The price drop has happened notwithstanding Plasma’s robust network performance. Over the past 30 days, network transactions have increased by an incredible 5,200%, topping 28.7 million, demonstrating impressive speed within the layer-1 and layer-2 industries.
It’s worth noting the significant increase in active addresses, surpassing 878,600, which trumps other chains such as Somnia, Starknet, and Avalanche.
Plasma Becomes Fifth Largest in Total Value Locked (TVL)
Total value locked (TVL) in Plasma has allowed it to rank fifth among the global chains. TVL in Plasma’s decentralized finance (DeFi) has risen above $10 billion, placing it right behind Ethereum, Solana, BSC, and Bitcoin. This achievement allows Plasma to bypass other popular chains, including Cardano, Tron, and Suio.
In addition, Plasma has established a formidable presence in the stablecoin industry, with its total stablecoin market capitalization increasing to over $5.28 billion.
Boosting its growth potential further, Plasma has also negotiated a partnership with Chainlink, making the latter its official oracle provider.
The price of XPL appears to have crashed due to airdrop recipients commencing to sell their tokens – a common occurrence whenever a new airdrop materializes.
Technical Analysis Points to an XPL Price Rebound
The two-hour range data shows that the XPL price peaked at $1.6938 after the airdrop but subsequently plummeted to $0.8312.
However, the signs are indicative of the coin having reached its low point following a double-bottom pattern at $0.8312, a well-regarded bullish reversal pattern within technical analysis circles.
Furthermore, the formation of a falling wedge pattern also points to bullish potential. Predictions suggest a robust bullish breakout for the token, possibly reaching the $1 mark. Nonetheless, any drop below the $0.8312 support level could negate this forecast.
Overall, it is clear that while Plasma’s token faces short-term price declines following its airdrop, the project’s fundamental performance remains strong. The coming weeks will be crucial in establishing if these fundamentals can overcome short-term profit-taking trends and help stabilize the market’s confidence in the project.
