Messaging app Telegram has shut down multiple channels associated with suspected Chinese crypto-criminal marketplaces, such as Xinbi Guarantee and Huione Guarantee following a report by blockchain analytics firm, Elliptic. The encrypted platforms have allegedly processed billions in illicit transactions, providing tools for money laundering, crypto scams, intimidation and sex trafficking. The report highlights a broader issue of industrial-scale fraud in Southeast Asia, attracting victims under false pretenses and forcing them into illegal activities.
