ARK Invest Adds To Its Crypto Portfolio With Bullish
Cathie Wood, the financial maven at the forefront of ARK Invest, has further expanded the asset manager’s investments in the crypto realm. The company has amassed over 160,000 shares of the crypto exchange Bullish, marking their most recent investment in crypto-related stocks.
Investment In Bullish Details
In a recent public disclosure, ARK Invest made it known that the purchase of Bullish shares was worth approximately $8.21 million. These shares were acquired across two of its funds—ARK Innovation ETF (ARKK) and ARK Next Generation Internet ETF (ARKW). Of the total shares purchased, the ARKK and ARKW funds procured 120,609 shares and 40,574 shares, respectively.
Total Bullish Holdings By ARK Invest
The firm now has more than $129 million invested in Bullish. This includes holdings across ARKK, ARKW, and the ARK Fintech Innovation ETF (ARKF). ARK Invest has been staunchly supportive of Bullish since its New York Stock Exchange debut last month, at which point they acquired 2.53 million shares with a market value of $172 million at the time.
Recent Investments In Bullish
The investment company’s commitment to Bullish hasn’t wavered. Earlier in the month, the firm invested a further $7.5 million in the crypto exchange. At the same time, on August 20th, the firm invested $21 million in Bullish stocks. Even with these recent purchases, Ark’s total holdings in Bullish across all its ETFs stand at 2.52 million shares – suggesting that the firm took some partial profits and is now reinvesting in the stock, which has significantly diminished in value since its debut.
Bullish Stock Performance
On its official listing day, Bullish’s (BLSH) shares soared, hitting a high of $118 per share – a gain of 218% from its IPO price of $37. Despite the initial boom, the stock wasn’t able to maintain its momentum. As of Aug. 13th, the shares had lost most of their value, closing at a flat $51.36 on Tuesday—a nearly 57% decline from its all-time high.
Financial Performance Of Bullish
Bullish has seen its revenue decrease by 0.2% year-over-year as of March’s end quarter. Its operating income also fell by 270% during the same timeframe. The exchange is scheduled to release its second quarter results soon. Analyst reactions towards the Bullish exchange have been mixed, with some remaining neutral, while others are optimistic about its potential to outperform.
Varying Analyst Opinions On Bullish Performance
Last week, Jefferies commenced with a hold rating on Bullish, while JP Morgan and Bernstein gave it a neutral score. On the other hand, Cantor Fitzgerald expressed an overweight prediction, suggesting that in their view, Bullish will exceed expectations.
ARK Invest Expands Its Investments In Crypto
ARK Invest has been fortifying its portfolio with crypto-related stocks. It advanced its holdings with a $4.4 million investment in BitMine on Sept. 9, bringing its total holdings in BitMine to 6.7 million shares, with a market value of $284 million. The company also purchased shares from the Jack Dorsey-backed Block and held $193 million worth of Block shares as of Aug. 12. ARK’s widening footprint in the crypto landscape indicates their long-term commitment to, and confidence in, this dynamic industry.
