Overview
The cryptocurrency space has been experiencing mixed feelings and reactions, primarily as a result of the market’s volatility, and the Hyperliquid token has not been left out. Hyperliquid cryptocurrency, with the official token symbol HYPE, has witnessed a significant drop in its value this week. The digital asset’s sharp decline is linked to the recent loss of momentum in its rally and the quick profit-taking moves by investors.
Dip in Value
The Hyperliquid cryptocurrency experienced a downturn in its token price, declining by 15% from its highest price for this month to rest at $33.4. This downturn is considered a correction, and it’s being attributed to two significant factors.
The Factors behind the Decline
The first factor causing this correction is traced back to its sharp rise in value of over 330% since its low point in April. This quick rise in value made Hyperliquid one of the top-performing tokens in the cryptocurrency market, prompting investors to take profits. The move is considered a typical phenomenon, especially in asset trading, to retrace following a surge in value as investors seek to accumulate profits. Furthermore, the decline follows the principle of mean reversion, a theory where the price returns towards its long-term moving averages after extreme swings in either direction.
The second factor that led to a drop in Hyperliquid’s token price is linked to the recent fading rally in the broader crypto market space. Notably, Bitcoin’s market value fell to $107,400, just a week after hitting a high near $112,000, while the overall value of the cryptocurrency market cap dropped to around $3.39 trillion.
Effect of Market Conditions on Hyperliquid
The market’s falling cryptocurrency prices have a direct impact on the HYPE token because it stirs up the trading volume on its platform. Nevertheless, this effect is yet to reflect on the Hyperliquid platform, as the daily trading volume increased by 62% to a mighty $11.25 billion.
Despite the current downturn in the Hyperliquid token’s price, there are strong indications that HYPE will experience a rebound due to its impressive share in the perpetual futures market. The digital asset has processed transactions valued over $37 billion in just the past week, remarkably higher than the combined value from Jupiter, Vertex Edge, and MYX Finance.
Hyperliquid Price – A Technical Analysis
From the statistics at the start of the daily trading chart, HYPE’s bottom price was observed to be $9.3370 in April before it rose to a record high of $39.88 this month. In addition, it formed a corrective cup-and-handle pattern that had an upper limit at $28.31.
This cup configuration had a downturn of roughly 66%, and evaluating the same range from the top of the cup predicts a target of $47. Furthermore, the most likely situation envisages the HYPE token dropping 15%, testing the $28.31 breakout zone, and then resuming its upward trend towards the $47 target.
This pattern is often referred to as a “break-and-retest,” a scenario in investment trading where an asset breaks resistance, retests it as a back-up, and then continues in the direction of the original breakout.
