ARK Invest Increases Exposure to Crypto-Linked Equities Amid Market Downturn

ARK Invest, a leading investment company, has recently expanded its portfolio with cryptocurrency-related equities, sold across its various ETFs. These new acquisitions come amidst an ongoing market decline, reinforcing ARK’s confidence in the potential of the blockchain industry.

Major Purchases

ARK Fintech Innovation ETF (ARKF) recently procured 18,089 shares in BitMine Immersion Technologies, a noted cryptocurrency company. In addition, the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF (ARKW) purchased 34,637 BitMine shares. Notably, the ARK Innovation ETF (ARKK) acquired an impressive 116,681 shares, bringing the total BitMine purchases for the day to a whopping 169,407 shares. This purchase was valued at approximately $5.83 million. ARKF, ARKW, and ARKK also acquired stocks in Bullish, another crypto-focused entity. The total shares bought amounted to 75,515 shares, appreciated at nearly $2.91 million. This large-scale acquisition occurred on a day when both BitMine and Bullish stocks experienced heavy sales. Both Bullish and BitMine saw their share prices drop by over 6% during the day, though they both saw some recovery in after-hours trading.

Crypto Investment Surge

These latest acquisitions signify ARK’s continued interest in the cryptocurrency and blockchain sector. Last week, the firm amassed 542,269 shares of Circle (CRCL), another cryptocurrency enterprise, over a span of two days. The value of these purchases sums up to approximately $46 million. These transactions occurred while CRCL’s stock was in decline, with shares closing at $86 and then $82.30, reminding us of the first round of Circle stocks ARK bought in June. Then, the ARK sold about 1.7 million shares with an average price of $200, making a hefty booking of $352 million. ARK has also expanded its position in BitMine by acquiring 242,347 BitMine shares when the stock slipped below $37.

Leadership Change

BitMine’s transition to one of the largest Ether-holding public companies resulted in a change in its executive leadership. Chi Tsang will now take over from Jonathan Bates as the CEO. The reshuffling also welcomes the appointment of three independent board members. BitMine was originally a crypto-mining enterprise but has now transitioned into being a major Ethereum holder. This shift led to comparisons being drawn with Michael Saylor’s Bitcoin-specific strategy.

BitMine’s Ethereum Holdings

Presently, more than 3.5 million Ether, valued over $11 billion, is held in BitMine’s treasury. This transition from crypto-mining to Ethereum holding places the company on par with a significant institutional holder of Ethereum. In conclusion, ARK Invest’s recent purchases in the pumping up the crypto-equity space despite the downturn in the market. It is indicative of the robust belief in the potential cryptocurrency and its associated technologies hold in the financial ecosystem. Seemingly, companies like BitMine and Bullish are increasingly attracting interest from significant market players, shaping the direction of the evolving digital asset industry.
