Jeff Ko Predicts Only Blue-Chip Cryptocurrencies Will See Liquidity in 2026

Jeff Ko, Chief Analyst of CoinEx Research, has voiced his projections about the future of digital currencies, specifically addressing the fate of altcoins and Bitcoin in 2026. Ko’s forecast suggests that only blue-chip digital currencies would enjoy the majority of the liquidity, as the typical altcoin surge is expected to decrease notably come the following year. In his interaction with Cointelegraph, he expressed potential disappointment for retail investors hoping for an overall increase to buoy all boats. He argued that “We predict no traditional altseason. Instead, liquidity will be ruthlessly selective, flowing only to blue-chip survivors with real adoption.”

Jeff Ko’s Remarks on Bitcoin’s Future

Shedding light on Bitcoin’s future, Ko predicted the cryptocurrency to be valued at a groundbreaking $180,000 by 2026. He disclosed that global liquidity is anticipated to experience modest tailwinds, although influenced by variant central bank policies. Moreover, he pointed out that Bitcoin’s sensitivity – which was significantly affected by the growth of the M2 money supply – has lessened over time since the launch of the 2024 ETFs, with the connection diminishing.

Counter Views from Veteran Analyst Peter Brandt

Despite Ko’s optimism, other finance experts do not entirely agree. Among them is Peter Brandt, a veteran futures trader and analyst, who has predicted another lengthy bear market. Brandt’s forecast stands contradictory to Ko’s, sharing that Bitcoin, in its 15-year history, has undergone five parabolic raises on a logarithmic scale, each trailed by a drop of at least 80%. He believes the current cycle isn’t done yet. Brandt has projected the next bull market high to occur years away in September 2029, aligning with the four-year cycle theory. He predicts this peak to come a year after the halving event, scheduled for April 2028. Interestingly, he cautioned that before the occurrence of this scenario, an 80% decline analogous to the past could send Bitcoin tumbling back to a modest $25,000.

Bitcoin’s Current Market Position

Currently, Bitcoin is encircling around $88,000 in trace, which is a significant 30% drop from its record high in October. Macro investing feed Milk Road suggested that this could potentially imply that the market has discharged a substantial amount of unnecessary risk and feeble positioning.

Historical Performance of Bitcoin in the Fourth Quarter

Historically, Bitcoin’s performance has customarily been quite strong in the fourth quarter of each year. Tempting to note, eight out of the past twelve fourth quarters have transpired to be the periods of Bitcoin’s most substantial quarterly gains, with only one of these quarters reporting a single-digit growth rate. However, currently, Bitcoin is down by over 22% for the present quarter, making it the second most unfortunate fourth quarter in its history thus far.

Final Thoughts

Despite the polarized views on the future landscape of cryptocurrency, one can’t deny that cryptocurrency, particularly Bitcoin, has created a significant influence on investors and the global finance market. Whether it’s Ko’s optimistic prediction or Brandt’s cautionary stance, only time will decode the accuracy of these forecasts and the roadmap of Bitcoin and altcoins in the days to come.
